A note from John
August 21, 2005
Hey Everyone,
Well, Marty's
Corner is always an adventure. And last night's show was
no different. When the crew arrived to the studio at 5pm
last night (Aug. 20th), we discovered the Studio's power
had been shut off. The studio is located on the campus
of Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights... So when
someone hired by the school district shut off the power,
they forgot to tell anyone at our TV station. We were
all less than pleased to say the least.
With the
power at the studio off, and with confirmation that it
wouldn't be on until at least next Wednesday, as the old
saying goes,"The show must go on!" We decided to move
the show to a different venue. Marty's backyard.
So within the
next half hour the Cast, Crew, Staff & even a few
audience members pitched in and we were able to move the
stations portable equipment 5 miles away into Marty's
Garage. A few rugs thrown out onto the patio, a couple
of drum risers, a table for Leo to set up a DJ booth,
and some minor tweaking to the format of the show.. and
suddenly Marty's backyard is now Marty's Corner.
We had 4
guests lined up. We thought for sure that this venue
move, and a show start time difference of about 2-3
hours would surly send our guest running for the door.
The great thing is, we didn't loose a single guest. The
Swing Dancers from Memories, Comedian Barry Weisenberg,
Musical guest The Toast And our surprise guest, Alan
Katz or "Marilyn MANroe." stuck with us during the
craziness.
Once all was
said and done, The show came off very well. Just 4 hours
prior we didn't think there was going to be a 12th
anniversary show. And thanks to the professional
attitudes that each and every member of our crew, staff,
and guests had shown ... we pulled it off.
Thank you to
all who came to that crazy show last night. We hope you
all had fun during that insane little adventure.
See you in
October when we start our lucky 13th season!
